Obit., In the U. D. 30 years ago - issue 20 May 1974:
" Hugo Heinen, widely known Loose Creek merchant and landowner, was found dead Saturday (May 1944) in a field on his son's farm near Huber's Ferry bridge on the Cole County side of the Osage River. He was 70 years old.
He was born in the Loose Creek neighborhood and was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Church there. His wife, Regina Porth Heinen, preceded him in death three years ago. 
Surviving are seven children: Ted Heinen of Columbia; Herbert of Loose Creek; Mrs. Herbert Schmitz of Bonnots Mill; Mrs. Edgar Lock, Pattonville, Mo.; Mrs. Harold Dean of Majove, Calif., Misses Loretta and Irene at home; three sisters, Mrs. Emily Nolte, Loose Creek; Mrs. C. H. Krautman, Bonnots Mill; Ms. Leo Wegman, Anamosa, Iowa; and one brother, Rudolph Heinen, Halbur, Iowa."
